• The ROG Ally is one of the first gaming devices to support UHS-II Micro SD cards which have a read speed around 300MB/s instead of 100MB/s of UHS-I cards. Currently, the best pricing for these UHS-II cards is around $100 for a 256GB card. As the time of writing (June 5, 2023) there are not any higher capacity UHS-II drives available.

• The previous answer about UHS-II is the best answer. However, note 2230 M.2's read and write around 5,000 MB/s... so running bigger games off your SD card vs M.2 will have a significant performance difference (bigger, more complicated games should go on M.2 for best performance).
