Q: QuestionIs this "AC2917" model a Best Buy exclusive model? Is it supposed to be newer than the regular RT-AC86U AC2900 model?

• A:Answer It's really the Deanne l same exact model. I had the same thought as you when I wanted to but mine. I already had the official rt-86u and wanted to add another to make a mesh network. I found the 86u/2900 cheaper on Amzn at the time and tried to price match it with BB. Because the model numbers are different, no price match. It was only 10 dollars difference and bought from BB anyway. It's the same exact model with different model number. This is common in the industry to prevent price shopping. Bed manufactures so this all the time too.

• A:Answer Not sure about the Smart TVs. I use it for my home wireless and work laptop and all our other devices(iPad, Samsung and iPhones, Kindles, etc...). So far it has been great and is not losing a connection at all. Very important as I work from home in IT job and need to be connected at all times. Hope that helps.

Q: QuestionIs this ASUS Wireless Router miss -named? ASUS does not make a AC2917 Router (Model RTAC86U). They do make a AC2900 Router (Model RTAC86U). Suggest Best Buy check with ASUS about this.

Q: QuestionTo those who either purchased another Asus RT-AC68U wireless router (or the one from Best Buy with different "call letters" I was wondering how did it work when set up in aimesh mode? Did you consider the Asus RT-AX92U AX6100?

• A:Answer I purchased the AC86U and combined with the AC68U to balance the "load devices wifi". It is not worth it right now to buy and AX router because there are not a lot of devices right now for AX wifi. If you ahve a very large home and want to try it go for it, but if you dont have AX devices its not worth it.

• A:Answer Depends on your internet connection. The device at my residence connects at no lower than 700Mpbs. So if you have Gigabit connection for internet you would want to look at an 802.11AX model if your wireless device supports it.
