Probably the low 16 GB (lowest 8 of stick and soldered) will run dual given DDR4. What I hear is it’s pretty much not an issue with DDR5, but on DDR4 you have to match up the addresses. On the bright side, your high 8 GB is much faster than paging or swapping to/from disk.

I replaced the 4 GB stick with another 8 GB, and specifically DDR4-3200, and single rank (IE the crappier kind). And right now it is humming along in dual channel mode fine. I believe in theory, this thing can support partial dual channel mode, where the first 8 GB of that 16 GB is going to be dual channel, and the rest is single channel, but I didn't risk it.
