What you may consider is contacting your state to see if they have a program that provides free very loud answering phones for the hearing impaired. I called in the state of New Jersey and my father now can hear the VERY loud ring, and use the speakerphone to converse at loud volume. That phone is programmable as well. Worth the call. By the way, the state also sent hearing impaired smoke and co2 alarm.
