  • QuestionIs this phone compatible with a consumer cellular SIM card?

    Asked by tessp10.

    • Answer I don't know if the AT&T Smartflip can be rebranded to Consumer Cellular but the Consumer Cellular Link that's sold at their website for $30 is a good phone. I know someone who has the Link and it works well. I have a very similar phone and like it.

  • QuestionWill this phone work on 5g network

    Asked by Roz.

    • Answer It is not a "5G" capable phone - but note that there are NO "Exclusively 5G" networks: The SmartFlip will work on AT&T and any compatible network now, and should well into the future. (Note that it comes Locked to AT&T and thus must be Activated and used on AT&T for at least 6 months).

  • QuestionI need to transfer my old LG (AT&T Go Phone) flip phone SIM card and the description of this phone SIM states 'nano SIM'- will my old SIM fit?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Without knowing the model GoPhone you have it's impossible to say if the SIM you have will fit. Three SIM sizes are NANO like most newer phones have, the previous size is MICRO., and the older ones are sometimes called STANDARD. MY 2006 NOKIA had Standard, The nano SIM has been around for a few years. If your phone is four or five years old or older it probably doesn't have nano. My z222 flip I got in 2015 had Micro. Look up SIM sizes on Google. If you know your phone model name you can look its specs up on Google and it may say what size SIM it has. In my AT&T Smartflip's setup paperwork it says if your SIM won't fit the new phone you can call 800.901.9878 to update the SIM, say "more options" at the main menu, and select 0 to talk to someone. Or visit att.com/myprepaid online and select "MyDevice" and then Update with the new SIM number.

  • QuestionWill Best Buy support this as a monthly fee? If not who will support this phone at a reasonable rate monthly?

    • Answer I have it set-up through AT and T prepaid for $35 a month. Instructions come with box.

  • Questionhow many minuets of talk time do I get for $35

    Asked by bill.

    • Answer The amount of talk time depends on your plan. You must pick a plan to activate. The choices that are currently available are posted at the AT&T website. There are monthly plans listed on my paperwork that came with the phone that start at $30/month with unlimited talk & unlimited text, the more you pay per month varies with the amount of data you get on the monthly plan. However the plans may have changed so check the AT&T website for current rates on prepaid plans. Their cheapest plans are the 25¢/minute pay as you go plan for low volume users, and the pay per day plan that is $2/day on my paperwork but might be more now. The per day plan allows unlimited call/text on the day you pay the $2 which is deducted from the balance on your phone. The prepaid plan cards that add money to the phone come in various denominations. Possibly $10, $15, $25, $50, $75, $100. There may be other denominations. The $10 and $15 amounts last 30 days and the $25 amount lasts 90 days. The $100 amount lasts 365 days. I used to use the 25¢/day plan with the $25/90 day cards. They used to allow me to buy messaging packs from my phone balance by calling 611 from my phone. 200 messages for 4.99, The unused balance rolled over if I renewed before expiration in 30 days. Data on that plan was per use, about 5kb/1¢. The pay per day plan allowed data by day pass, not sure how much.

  • Questiondoes the phone have moechies

    Asked by charlie.

  • QuestionI currently have a Virgin Mobile flip phone that is dying. I pay $20.00 a month for unlimited talk and certain amount of text which I do not use. Does AT&T have similar monthly payment options like Virgin (Boost)? Please also describe what Alcatel mean

    Asked by Kmop.

    • Answer Visit the AT&T website for current plan pricing. The lowest monthly rate listed on my AT&T Smartflip paperwork is $30/month. It may have changed since they packaged my phone so you need to check the website. Cricket is a AT&T MVNO and may charge a lower rate for monthly plans. The AT&T Smartflip is usually priced cheaper for use on Cricket. Search Best Buy to see if it's available and check Cricket's website for plan pricing. I think they had a $25/mo talk & text no data plan. If you want to switch from Virgin Mobile/ Sprint to a service that uses AT&T towers, and you want $20/month pricing with unlimited talk, there are a number of services that give service through the AT&T network for low prices. Try H20 Wireless, Red Pocket websites for two to consider. They use AT&T phones but they may need to be unlocked. That requires an unlock request from AT&T. Usually they require 6 months on their prepaid service before they'll unlock a phone. You may be able to request an unlock as a non customer. Look up unlock request at their website. H20 in the past has allowed me to use locked AT&T phones on their prepaid pay as you go plans, but I'm not sure about prepaid monthly plans. I think the AT&T phones have to be unlocked to port your number in. If you're on VM/Sprint your phone isn't GSM like AT&T. If you can request and get an unlock on your phone you may be able to find a service that will accept your phone for activation. Try searching Sprint MVNOs on Google. Tello and Ting are possibilities. There are some really cheap plans on the MVNOs.

  • QuestionWhere is the "forward" function on the at&t alcatel flip? I can't find it.

    Asked by Weyoun.

    • Answer I don't know about a forward option. From the homescreen you choose the menu button by pressing the center OK button then choose the icon you want. When you want to go back you press the END CALL button. Each press takes you back one screen.

  • QuestionDoes this phone have a timer as well as other tools?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer This AT&T Smartflip has some tools... Yes, it has a TIMER and STOPWATCH, go to menu and choose the CLOCK icon. That's where they are. It also has a very basic calculator, notepad, voice recorder, unit metric converter for area, length, speed, temperature, volume, weight. To get more tools, the phone's KaiOS Store has lots of simple apps you can download that don't take up a lot of room. There's a scientific calculator app, pdf readers, simple weather apps, games, GPS tracker for walking, wallpapers, dictionary, all kinds of things.

  • QuestionWhat would make the battery keep dying overnight on my new phone? It won't stay charged. Just got it 2 days ago

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer If the settings are set on continually for GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, it can use more battery. If your screen brightness is set up to 100% it uses more battery. Set your screen brightness down to about 40%. Set screen timeouts to the lowest length of time, so the screen darkens within 30 secs to a minute of notifying you of a message or sitting idle. Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS if you're not using them. Battery saver mode usually does that. Airplane mode will save some juice but it won't allow calls. Also, if your signal strength is weak, the phone may be checking the tower continually for updates and draining the battery. Look at the signal strength icon on the notification bar at the top of the screen. If it's 1 to 2 bars, that's s fairly weak. If you have email enabled, choose for it to update less often. The more often it updates, the more often it pings the tower. I set my mail to check manually, when I want to. If the phone still drains the battery quickly after checking the settings and signal strength, there could be something wrong internally or with the battery itself. It definitely shouldn't be draining overnight. It should last days on standby. The only phone I've ever had go dead on standby in a few hours I got used and the battery was flat.

  • QuestionI have an old AT&T LG CU515 flip phone. The keypad tone can be set to "voice" or "beep". I use voice when I dial, it says the numbers out loud. I have poor vision. This lets me know what I'm dialing. Does this, or any other flip phone have this feature?

    Asked by qtbeddecor.

    • Answer Yes this phone does have that option. It's a very good phone. I purchased for my 88 year old grandmother and she uses it pretty well. Hope this helps!

  • QuestionDoes this phone have ease of texting (not using the number pad and having to choose among the three letters for the one you want)?

    Asked by Becky.

    • Answer It has Predictive Text or T9 as an option. I never use that function because it just seems faster to press the key I want. It has next word suggestion. Predictive and next word suggestion can be switched off in settings. It also has Google Assistant and you can talk to it to make a call, tell it you want to create a text, ask for the weather, find a business, or whatever it can understand.
