• You purchase the phone and sometimes depending on the promotion it may come with the first prepaid month. Otherwise you will also purchase a prepaid card that has minutes on it. It's a cheaper monthly plan that offers you the same benefits as a contract plan but without the contract and you control it. Otherwise like in my case I purchase the phone for a line that I already have and just put a sim card in it. ( we have a family plan) It is just used for business so I didn't need a pricey phone.
