THIS PHONE IS NOT BACK-LIT! It does use batteries to power the caller-id panel. Which you can only see if you turn on the lights! And the print is tiny! You need the Hubble to read this thing even if you got the sun in your bedroom. It does not need a power adapter. This is Old School technology. All land line phones get their power directly from the copper cable that connects to the phone and this cable also carries the phone signal (gives you a dial-tone). That is why I bought this thing. For security. If the power grid ever crashes I would still have a way to dial 911. **cordless phones_no power from wall means phone can not generate and send a signal to your wireless handset** Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The caller ID panel requires 4 AA batteries. Unfortunately, this wasn't mentioned on the packaging, we only discovered it when removing it from the box and were about to install it.
