  • Questionwhat’s the difference between the colored needles and the white ones?

    • Answer Stylus construction. Within this series, the white one is a 3.0 mil bonded conical tip designed specifically for the playback of 78 RPM Shellac (SP) records. The remaining colored styli are for use with today's vinyl records. The blue is an economical 0.6 mil bonded conical tip, the green uses an 0.3 x 0.7 mil bonded elliptical tip for improved high frequency performance, the orange uses the same tip as the green but the stylus is nude, not bonded, giving the orange extended high frequency response and improved transient response.The red uses a nude micro linear shape tip on a square shank.The micro linear shape has a more narrow side radius and a longer vertical contact ridge. The micro linear tip is our longest wearing tip and it traces the groove with a high degree of accuracy and low noise. The brown uses a Shibata tip on a square shank. The Shibata profile is similar to the micro linear tip but it has a distinct, more focused sound with some mid-bass warmth. If your system sounds too bright, the Shibata tip can help tone it down. Nude styli will have improved transient response and detail compared to a bonded styli of the same shape and size. A square shank is more expensive to manufacture than the traditional round shank, but it allows for more precise indexing of the cantilever thanks to a corresponding laser cut square hole in the cantilever.

  • QuestionThis produc is compatible with Audiotechnica AT-LP-120-USB?

    • Answer This is only a replacement stylus. It fits the AT-VM95E cartridge body. Your table has removable headshell and accepts any 1/2" mount cartridges. So you'll have to buy the VM95e cartridge ($50) then when needed you can buy this replacement stylus when the original wears out. Now if your table is the at-lp120Xusb it has this cartridge. If it's the older model at-lp120usb (no X) it has the older AT95e (no VM in name) cartridge. Which you can still get replacement for. The replacement name is "atn95e" if it has that cartridge You'll know because the AT95e green stylus is square. Vm95e has a rounded "nose" like this listings picture. Hope this helps!!

    • Answer No you cannot, the AT-VMN95E Replacement Stylus is not compatible with your cartridge. The AT11E Cartridge, and its ATS11E stylus, have been discontinued for quite some time. We have no stock remaining of any replacement styli from that family, and nothing that is currently available that is compatible with that cartridge body. Time for a new cartridge, like the AT-VM95E Cartridge which includes the AT-VMN95E Stylus.

    • Answer According to your turntables documentation, our AT95E Cartridge was supplied with it. Please confirm this. If it is the AT95E Cartridge, the only replacement styli available for your cartridge is the ATN95E or the ATN95EX Replacement Stylus. PLEASE NOTE: the AT-VMN95E Stylus is not compatible with the AT95E Cartridge, only with AT-VM95E Cartridge which is an updated version of the cartridge.

    • Answer Only if your BSR turntable has an AT-VM95 Series cartridge on it. Instead of purchasing the stylus (stylus ONLY), you may want to replace the cartridge complete with stylus. This will be the AT-VM95E Cartridge.

You could update the provided AT3600L Cartridge by replacing it with the AT-VM95E Cartridge complete with stylus however.   • QuestionWe have a Technics SL-205 turntable that was given to us. It works perfectly but has no stylus. The cartridge is marked SLT 96 E . It appears to be bare metal silver in color. Do you have a replacement stylus that will work this cartridge ?

    • Answer The SLT96E Cartridge has been discontinued for several years, and we have no compatible stylus for it remaining here at Audio-Technica. The ATN122EP Stylus (0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical tip) was the stylus that was provided. The stylus assembly was caramel in color.     • Answer This is just a replacement stylus, so no, it will not fit. The AT-VM95E Cartridge complete with the stylus assembly however will fit provided you have the Dual cartridge holder (aka carrier or sled). The cartridge mounts to the holder, then the holder is installed into the head.

    • Answer It would have to be the AT-LP120XUSB Turntable, not the AT-LP120-USB model. If you have the AT-LP120-USB model turntable, and your stylus assembly is green in color, you will need the ATN95E Replacement Stylus.

    • Answer Yes, this is the same stylus that was provided with the turntable. You can also upgrade the cartridge by replacing the stylus with one of higher quality. Any replacement stylus from the AT-VMN Series of Replacement Styli is compatible with the provided AT-VM95E Cartridge. The AT-VMN95EN Stylus is the next step up (same elliptical shape tip, same round shank as the AT-VMN95E, but the mount is nude, not bonded) followed by the AT-VMN95ML Stylus which is a micro linear shape tip on a square shank and nude mounted.

  • QuestionI have been told that the AT-VM95E cartridge is not good for 78 RPM records. If true, what cartridge is required to play 78's without damaging them?

    • Answer I was told buy Audio Technica that you need a special Stylus to play 78 RPM Records. I would talk to them and see what one you need.I personally would like to get one so if the time comes i can play one also
