  • QuestionDo you need a receiver for the music to play or can you just plug the record player into the amplifier and play the music?

    Asked by pray.

    • Answer If you already own passive type speakers, you will need to install a stereo receiver or amplifier between the turntable and the speakers. Receivers and Amplifier have a POWER amplifier inside to amplify connected sources, such as a turntable, up to a level that can adequately drive the speakers. Another option would be to use POWERED (aka active) type speakers. Powered speakers have their own power amplifier built into them so there is no need for a separate stereo receiver or amplifier. Due to the inclusion of a phono preamplifier in the turntable, the turntable may be connected to devices that either do or do not have a dedicated PHONO input for a turntable. A phono preamplifier raises the phono level signal from a turntable (which is very weak) to a stronger line level signal (such as that which you get from a CD Player) so it can drive the preamplifier section of a receiver, amplifier or powered speaker, then the preamplifier drives the power amplifier. Its all about gain staging so that, in the end, you have a good signal to noise ratio. A phono preamplifier also applies the RIAA equalization curve which is required for the playback of records.

  • QuestionCan I plug this in to my Bose Wave and use it as the speaker?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Yes, you can. Turn the phono preamplifier located inside the turntable ON by placing the switch on the rear of the turntable in the LINE position, then connect the turntable to the 3.5 mm AUX IN jack on the rear of the Bose Wave. You will need either an adapter cable which has dual RCA female jacks on one end and a single 3.5 mm male stereo mini-plug on the other end to add to the supplied cable, or an entirely different cable which has 3. 5 mm stereo male to 3.5 mm stereo male mini-plugs on each end in order to make the connection.

  • QuestionIs this record player compatible with a Technics SA-206 stereo receiver?

    Asked by Maggie.

    • Answer It should. It has a phono input. This turntable comes with a stereo audio cable with RCA connectors. There is a switch on the back of the turntable to select for either phono or auxiliary input on the stereo receiver it is connected to. There is no ground wire because the provided external power supply has eliminated the hum problem. The set up instructions included are illustrated and easy to follow.

  • QuestionWHAT DO YOU USE TO PLAY 45 RECORDS? IS THERE SOME KIND OF GADGET TO PLACE IN CENTER OF RECORD?

    Asked by Rosalie.

    • Answer In the top left corner of the turntable there is a round indentation. There should be a round plastic piece in it with a hole in the center. This plastic piece is the size of the hole in a 45 RPM record. Place the plastic piece over the turntable spindle. Also set the record speed button on the front left to 45 and the record size lever on the bottom right corner of the turntable to 7”. Then your turntable will be set to play 45 RPM records. If your turntable is missing this round plastic piece, check if it is still in the packing box. If it is missing, contact the manufacturer.

  • QuestionWhat's a good set of CHEAP speakers that would work great with this turntable? I'm hoping to find something under $50. I was looking at the Logitech Speaker System Z323 with Subwoofer - would they work? Or would I need something else?

    Asked by anonymous.

    • Answer Yes, the Z323 speaker system should work fine. You may want to get a 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) to 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) audio cable in the length required for your particular setting to simplify the connection of the turntable to the right satellite speaker however. This speaker has a single 3.5 mm stereo input jack on it. The audio cable included with the turntable has dual RCA male plugs at the output end. If you use this cable, you will need a dual RCA female to single 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) mini-plug adapter cable to connect the turntable to the satellite speaker. The Analog Out jack on the rear of the turntable that this cable connects to is a single 3.5 mm stereo jack. The use of a 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) to 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) audio cable would allow you to connect the turntable directly to the speaker, no adapter cable would be needed. Be aware that there are RCA type jacks on the subwoofer that the included cable could be connected to, but the subwoofer would be so close to the turntable in this case that you can expect to have feedback problems, especially at higher volume levels and with sources that have strong bass content.
