Connecting my 4KHD TV to surround sound system in a new house.

They are for sending optical audio signals from one dsvice to a receiver or other unit. Eliminates potential signal loss utilizing light instead of electrical impulses to transmit an audio signal.

It provides an audio link between your TV and AV Receiver so you can listen to a streaming service that you access directly from your Smart TV. For example, some cable boxes do not provide a 4K HDR signal that the internet/Smart can through streaming services. You will need to switch to TV speakers without the optilink. The optilink will allow the audio to come through your AV receiver.

It allowed me to use a Bluetooth speaker with a tv without Bluetooth.
