QuestionHow long do the batteries last. My wife has a daycare and wants to keep front door locked but give parents access when they want to come in the home. Will the lock handle 15-20 unlocks/locks a day? and how long would the batteries last?

- Answer Absolutely it could handle 10-20 locks/unlocks a day or more. The batteries that came in it didn't last long but since I replaced with new duracell batteries it's been over a couple of months and with myself and 2 children we easily lock and unlock it 20 times a day.The August will tell you when the batteries a getting low as well. Hope this helps. You wont be disappointed in the purchase.

QuestionNobody seems to know the answer to my question?? Will the August smart lock pro & connect work on my house in mezcales nayarit Mexico from my home in Seattle Washington or do I need to buy the product from that city which would be from Telmex.

- Answer If you have an Internet connection in Mexico and you are in the US or anywhere in the world you should be able to check it, open it or lock it.

QuestionI would like a smart lock for my garage door, but it is very thick. I had purchased a bio-metric lock, and it couldn't be installed due to the thickness of the door.How thick can the door be and still be able to install the lock?

- Answer Any thickness. It utilizes the existing deadbolt hardware for the exterior of the door. You just replace the inside piece with a metal plate and then the lock slips on and lock it place with arms that you push down.

QuestionI am connecting it to an Amazon Alexa. Apparently this is the only device that can LOCK using Alexa. All others can only unlock. What are some ups and downs? Does it run smoothly? Can it lock using Alexa echo voice command?

- Answer We use Alexa to lock and also unlock. Ours runs very smoothly and quietly. Only thing I wish it did was auto lock when you are in away status.

- Answer You CAN issue codes via your smartphone, as long as you have the "August Connect" device plugged in, which communicates via WiFi to your router. (Without the "August Connect" you'd have to rely on Bluetooth only, which has a very narrow range for connection.) By purchasing the August Connect (or the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect) you will be able to assign codes remotely. The previous answer was incorrect.

- Answer Was worried as well. We have a standard size deadbolt. Fit perfectly.

QuestionIs this lock truly "universal" made to work on ANY door? I have a SimpliSafe system. and I purchased their "universal" door lock. And it WOULD NOT fit my door lock. A 1999 built home with a 1999 door and lock and it WOULD NOT fit or work on door and lock.

- Answer No its not, it has 3 adapters that will fit most doors, but not all. It didnt fit my schlage locks that were old 20 years old This product is is low quality do not waste money, always having connection issues. Mine stopped working after a month. Do not waste money on this lock

QuestionI am considering putting this device on the door from the garage to the house. I walk by this door, without going through it, numerous times during the day. If I set up the auto lock/unlock feature will the door unlock or lock every time I walk by it?

- Answer The device works great, to answer your question as per my knowledge, there is a particular range which is probably longer than most homes square footage, only if you go out of this range and come back in will the door unlock itself. If you have setup the auto lock feature to instant or 30 seconds it will lock itself. I personally don't like to use the auto unlock feature just to be safe.

- Answer When I initially installed the August smart lock. I didn't set up the wifi to it. It worked OK without wifi. Ok meaning sometimes it would take a minute or so to lock and unlock the door. But worked so much better & quicker once I did link the wifi to it. I would advise linking to wifi weather for home or business.

- Answer It fits over an existing deadbolt, so you can use your own key. Also, the lock alerts you when your batteries need to be replaced.
