QuestionMu son just purchased a home that had a August lock on the front door. He has no information about the lock, how to program it, and the software involved or app needed. Could we please have information as to where we could download this information.

- Answer I was in the same situation. I downloaded the August app. and just followed their instructions. I did however have to contact the previous homeowners to have them delete their account associated with that lock or it won't let you program.

- Answer This lock is compatible with Alexa and Google Home. I have not used it with Alexa but I have with Google Home many years ago. There was a two part system of unlocking, Asking for the lock to unlock and also providing a PIN. You can also ask Alexa if the front door is locked and to lock the door. These answers are for the Wi-Fi smart lock. If you get the Smart Lock Pro you will also need a Connect bridge in order to use Alexa.

- Answer Hello, Yes, as long as Wi-Fi is enabled on your August Wi-Fi Smart Lock and you have setup the Airbnb integration in the August app then the app will automatically generate Entry Codes and send them to the Guest with no charge. QuestionThe model numbers are different compared to the 4th Gen one shown on bestbuy.com. Can someone confirm if this is in fact the 4th Gen lock. From pictures it would seem to the be the case.

QuestionWe have never used the August lock because we didn't have the code. we would like to change the key lock and not use the August lock. Will re-keying the regular lock affect the august lock in anyway. Do we just need to keep the keys that we have?

- Answer Google home will lock it, but if you ask for it to unlock, assistant asks for your pin. so unless you don't mind announcing it, app is best.

- Answer From the inside you would just rotate the lock. From the outside keypad, you would press the August logo at the bottom of the keypad to lock.

- Answer Tricky, the keypad will work with other August brand locks only (no "Yale by August" etc). Important !! once the keypad is synced with a smart lock (as it may be out of the box) it must be properly unpaired by entering the the one time reset code the lock generates into the keypad to free it. DO THIS BEFORE REMOVING KEYPAD FROM LOCK OR IT WILL BE FOREVER BRICKED AND THERE IS NOTHING CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN DO TO HELP. don't make that mistake, the keypads alone are $100

- Answer If you are talking about the lock, press the august symbol on face of lock to expose battery area. If you are talking about the keypad. Use a coinn or screwdriver to gently press tab on bottom of keypad box. Pad will pop off. There are the batteries!
