Yes, it does have a clicking noise when being awaken from sleep mode. It is the mechanism which switches between the free scroll mode and tactical scroll. Whenever you use it after it being in sleep mode, it resumes its function by switching to the mode you were using because in power saving mode it disengages itself from both functions
