“Will this charge a Dell Latitude 7420 laptop? Most other USB to USB C cords will not, and I don't want to waste any more time or money.”

• I would highly recommend using a heavy-duty cable rated for Laptops. While this cable may be able to charge it, what is more important is the power block you have attached to it and whether or not it is capable of providing your laptop with enough power without overheating or melting it.

• dell likes to have only their equipment to work on dell. so probably not. One more reason I don't buy Dell products
