  • QuestionYou pay USD 199/ YEAR. You get the coverage for 2 years You choose to cancel next yr. Coverage is not available anymore as service not active ( or you pay USD 400 for two years for coverage and then pay fee too ?) How is this a product worthwhile

    • Answer You pay 199/year and it covers delivery and install on everything you buy that year + a warranty. I had a refrigerator delivered and installed and it would have cost me that much for just the delivery and install on this one item. A couple of months later I bought an 86" tv and the delivery and install was free. This works on a lot of stuff that Best Buy offers. For me it was worth it. There is also a 60 day return window I believe. The warranty is only good for two years, after that I will cancel the total tech membership.

However, there are a few exceptions: Advanced installations: This includes mounting your TV to a brick or concrete wall, or installing it in a custom location. Advanced installations are available for a fee, and Totaltech members receive a 20% discount. Commercial installations: Totaltech does not cover commercial installations. TVs that are not compatible with Geek Squad installation: Some TVs are too large or heavy for Geek Squad to install safely. If you are unsure whether your TV is compatible, you can contact Geek Squad for assistance. When you make a purchase that's covered by the protection plan with your membership, you'll receive an email confirming your protection plan coverage. The protection plan will remain in your name, but it will cover the product regardless of who the product is shipped to. This means that you can purchase a My Best Buy Total™ membership and then purchase products for friends and family members, and those products will be covered by the protection plan, even if they are shipped to the recipient's address. You will have to also purchase a mount as well as the service does not include the part, just the labor.   • QuestionWhen making an appointment in store for laptop support (laptop won't start up) . It is diagnosed while you wait? with a possible fix at that time? or is the laptop left in store?

    • Answer Geek Squad in store appointments have a 20 minute allotted timeframe. Typically for more complex issues they will need to check in the device to run full diagnostics and then repair what they find. These diagnostics can take several hours by themselves. If the issue is something that they can quickly see and repair, they may be able to do it within that 20 minute timeframe. For the issue you mentioned with your laptop not turning on, this would likely need to be checked in and possibly sent to our service center for complex hardware repairs depending on what they find.

If you are planning on getting both TV's delivered, and installed at the same address associated with your membership, then you only need one Best Buy Totaltech membership. If you need the 2 TV's delivered, and installed at 2 different addresses, then you will need a Best Buy Totaltech membership for each address.
