- Answer There is no on or off. You just rotate your hand while holding the handle and it swivels by the natural forces applied to the cleaning head by handle and the floor.

- Answer don't know why after so many hours it is still red. if you haven't used it yet, return it. read my review, very little power. filter has to be cleaned very often not worth the $.

- Answer The only dissappointment of the vacuum is the attachments do not go onto the stick. I keep them on the shelf or drawer where I store the vacuum. Other than that it is a great machine.

- Answer I do not find it to be very loud. I just checked the decibels on my Apple Watch and the vacuum is 74dB when operating, which Apple indicates is "OK: Long-term exposure to sounds below 80 dB should not affect your hearing."
