Is this ideal for a basic cleaning for couches? null

Yes .I you it on mine and it works on my car seats to.

I did not use on furniture but the instructions states it can we used on furnitue

I have not used it to clean my couch yet, but I would say that, you may have to let the cushions air out a bit after cleaning just make sure the moisture can really dry out- (maybe put them in the drier). If I needed to, I would definitely lean into it to clean my couch.

I used it on my couches that are dark gray and can’t tell if they’re dirty but you can see the dirt coming right off

Depends on your couch. Comes with two attachments, one is a brush kinda thing and the other is just a narrow nozzle type. I can get the crevices of my couch easy with the nozzle. Big plus for this is the fact that it’s a battery stick type so really easy to take anywhere and try to angle to vacuum whatever.
