I am sure that might work. However, I find that once something like that happens its better to take back to the store. On these machines I purchase the extra warranty, its well worth it and Best Buy is very good at honoring it. I use mine all the time and am very hard on the machine and have had a piece break or it lose suction and they just exchanged out for a new one no questions asked!
