The major difference between the two series appears to be the number of functions, with the Designer Series having the most settings. Blendtec also has a series of pro blenders. You can do a search for Blendtec/commercial. They both seem to be very rugged.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The difference between Designer and Classic series is the following: Designer has 6 prepgrogrammed settings and 8 manual speeds whereas the Classic series has 3 preprogrammed settings and 5 speeds. Designer has Capacitive Touch Screen whereas the Classic has buttons. Designer series are quieter since the housing is little bigger. The finish on the blender base is more sleek on the Designer than the Classic. As far as commercial use, no they are not commercial units. Which is more rugged: the Designer Series has more capabilities and can withstand greater use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These blenders are not commercial blenders, but they are very well-built to handle anything for a long period of time in a home environment. Commercial grade equipment is designed to handle the nearly continual use equipment faces in a commercial kitchen - and that's why they cost even more. Nevertheless, the Blendtec 8-speed will perform for a long time in anyone's home kitchen. I've not used the classic blender, but the 8-speed designer series is a well-built machine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It says not for commercial use. I can't compare them because I only have the designer series. Read the different reviews on each product and I am sure you can find out for yourself what each product has and/or does differently. My favorite feature on the designer series is the blending cycle option buttons for making specific things, batter, ice cream, crushed ice, etc. without guessing what consistency you will end up with. The button does all the guessing for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Although extremely powerful and rugged, the designer blender is not intended for commercial use and using that way is likely to void the warranty. Blendtec does offer a line of commercial blenders, I'd also check out the Waring Commercial blender line.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Both series blenders share the same power (3 hp motor) which has plenty of power. Blendtec motors are strong and powerful. They even have more power than Vitamix units. The main difference between the Designer Series and Classic is the Designer Series has more technical features like a touchscreen and more program features. Think of the classic series as your basic blender with a powerful motor. I have the Blendtec designer 650 and especially like the count down feature when running the different programs. It lets me know how long is remaining on the blend. If you do not need the tech you can save money by purchasing a classic series blender. Regarding commercial use both Blendtec and Vitamix are widely used commercially. For example in Jamba Juice franchises I have seen both. At Jamba Juice they always also use a protective cover when blending to cut down on the noise when multiple units are being used along with adding a measure of safety. Depending on your situation (acoustics, number of units you are running, and who is using the unit) you might or might not need the safety cover.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Both units are commercial grade but are not commercially rated. These are meant for residential use, if you are looking for a unit to use commercially Blendtec does have commercial units with longer warranties. The difference between the Classic and Designer series are such: They both offer the same power motor but the Designer will be quieter, has a sleeker touch screen instead of buttons and is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye personally. The Designer series also offers 6 preprogrammed settings that allow the user to put a recipe in the jar, and just push a button and it will run the preferable cycle and stop when it is done.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I only have the designer, but my understanding is that the designer series is supposed to be quieter than the regular. There may also be some stylistic differences.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the manual states this is non-commercial. Warranty would be voided, I believe I read.
