• Yes, you can choose to have motion detection on and or just doorbell. They both work great. Motion detection is so good on it that it captured a video of my neighbors cat running by chasing a squirrel lol

• It has a motion detector, and if your system is armed you will be notified of motion detected. Also if you have Alexa in your home, you can turn on motion announcements for the doorbell so that whenever it detects motion it will announce it on your echo device or devices
