No, it has little raised inserts that fit into the the back of the tablet. Attaching them requires a bit of pressure and I went to the store to be shown how to do it. I was fearful of harming the tablet.

Those small shiny studs on the cover snap fit to the back of the tablet to hold the cover to the tablet. The magnets are designed to hold the cover in various open positions. For that the magnets system work great.
