• yes, it allows you to separate utensils via the small grooves in the rack. works very well for forks, spoons and knives. propererly sorted, one could place quite a bit of cutlery there.

• It has inserts where you can separate your utensils without them sitting on top of one another. But as for big utensils like spatula or dipping spoons, no. They just lay in middle of the rack
