There might be additional reasons fo the Prop 65 warning, but I believe use of the product bitumen would require this warning. Bosch, along with every other dishwasher manufacturer I can think of today, uses bitumen (somehow related to asphalt) as a soundproofing film. In addition, even if the chemicals/materials are below the stated levels in the proposition, many companies are choosing to put the warning on anyway. So far, I have found one dishwasher that is prop 65 compliant, and thus contains no prop 65 warnings - Miele. The rep stated that they do use bitumen, but have encased it in a way that reduces/eliminates off gassing, so they pass testing. It's possible other manufacturers do as well, but have chosen to err on the liability safe-side by carrying the warning in any event. I contacted several manufacturers and read info online to get this information. I did not hear back from one brand. Would love to hear if others have found out anything differently. I do not work for any company that manufactures d/w, or any company related to or doing business with any of those companies. I ended up spending time on this because I was buying appliances.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I understand the Proposition 65 law very well and companies are REQUIRED to have a warning label if their products contain any of the chemicals in the law that are known to cause cancer, birth defects or reproductive harm. If Bosch has this warning, it means your washing machines and dryers must contain those chemicals, otherwise you wouldn't have that warning label. Can you please tell us what in your appliances has those chemicals? Are they emitted through regular use? Or are they simply in something like the plastics you use? Will the cancer-causing chemicals be emitted in the air when heated, like when using the dryer? Can you please clarify the specifics about those chemicals in your products so we can make an informed decision about whether to purchase your products. I'm sure no one wants to buy something that leads to cancer. Thanks.

This warning is the result of a law passed in California in 1986, referred to as the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, or more generally referred to as "Proposition 65."The warning does not mean that our products will necessarily cause cancer or reproductive harm. Moreover, a Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements. The government has described Proposition 65 as a ‘right to know’ law. While we believe our products are not harmful when used as designed. We provide the warning as a result of this California law. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
