OK I have diagnosed the problem - the ice tray flexes to empty the ice. The issue is the tray has a rectangular slot in the back of the tray which connects to the dump motor. The plastic tray breaks at that slotted point thus not able to flex and empty the tray. Its a bad/poor design in my opinion with no reinforcement around the slot in the tray to take the stress of the motor flexing the tray. My temp solution was to wrap electrical tape around the back of the tray to hold it together and still dump ice but its intermittent so I still get overflows, until you can get a replacement tray PN BSH-12017983 $24. I will report back once I have the tray, but I also ordered the complete ice maker for $133 too just in case. Also another tip - clean the tray and polish it with some carnuba wax (car polish) which is non toxic helps ice release and improve the dumping action, sort of like a laxative for your ice maker!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You likely have a bad tray - its part number Bosch Tray #BSH-12017983 This is a flex tray design to dump the ice, and rectangular tab on the back of the tray to flex it is a weak point and breaks in time. I reinforced the new tray with a plastic disc around the rectangular slot to add more stiffness to that weak point then also polished with carnuba wax so the ice releases easily.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm glad I'm not the only one! My tray has broken 4 times in the four years. Glad you guys recommended wax! I'll try that because this part is always out of stock on Bosch and most other 3rd party sites
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This same thing is happening to our fridge too. What I have been able to determine is the ice maker is not dumping / emptying the cubes, then it thinks its empty, fills with water again - and two cycles like this without dumping, the water overflows into the ice tray. This freezes all the ice in the storage tray. So every day I break up the ice in the storage tray, and also remove / empty the ice cube tray and start over again, IT appears to me that the motor is not strong enough to empty the tray. as I think the design "flexes" the plastic causing the cubes to drop. Our unit is 3 years old as well, and we did buy the extended warranty, so now need to find a Bosch repair person to come out and fix it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most likely the refrigerator door was not closed all the way and ice line was frozen. Just remove everything from the refrigerator and disconnect it overnight leaving the doors opened. I had the same problem and after I did that everything is working fine... BTW, it was a great opportunity to wash the refrigerator... good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Same problem with mine. Fridge is awful. Bought in 2018. Brown ice started happening intermittently and then the tray just snapped. The shelves are cracking as well. I am sad I own this fridge. The support bars on the shelves are awful too. I lose so much precious fridge space to this
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.- as for the carnuba wax - do not use car wax! it has hydrocarbon solvents that ARE NOT food safe and will cause "solvent stress" fractures in any plastic that it comes in contact with. the plastic used in the ice tray is designed to release because ice will not stick to plastic unless it has been vigorously cleaned and thereby scratched. if you can get pure carnuba wax that would be fine - however it is extremely hard and applying it to something with tight corners like an ice tray would be a nightmare unless you can heat it up and pour it in. that's not good for plastic either so a new tray for $24 every few years seems to be a bargain
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This happens to us too. If anyone knows how to troubleshoot, please reach out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine also does this. The ice tray also cracked as others stated. Bosch no longer manufactures the tray only and suggests I purchase the entire ice maker new for $200+. This is a faulty design and Bosch should stand good and correct this for us. I’ve found their customer service to be lacking.
