The smell comes from the water proof material inside. Run 1-2 cycles with sanitize plus extended heat with a cup of vinegar inside. Otherwise the smell is gradually gone.

We haven't had the problem but did find out that unlike our previous (other brand) dishwasher, we couldn't put items with labels into this washer as the labels catch in the filter and accumulate, along with other significantly sized detritus.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You might need to check the drain line from the dishwasher to your sink plumbing to make sure the drain line unobstructed and/or not kinked. The smell is most likely from food particles not draining completely and therefore creating the smell you're referring to.
