- Answer Hello Harv, thanks for the great question! We recommend 18 gauge up to 30 ft from your amplifier, 16 gauge up to 45 ft and 14 gauge for up to 70 ft. Hope this helps!

QuestionCan I place this speaker inside a column post. I have an outdoor firepit with 3' columns with light and no long pole or mounting place. Planning to put this in a nook cut into the column. would this be effective soundwise?

- Answer Hell Bernardo. The Bose 251 speakers need to be connected to an amplifier to power them. For compatibility with the SoundTouch 20, we would recommend the SA-5 amplifier which supports SoundTouch. Thanks!

- Answer Hello there. The 251 speakers need a receiver or amplifier to power them, but you could definitely connect your iPad to the receiver and listen to it through the speakers that way. As far as distance, there isn't an ideal placement, they should be at ear level between 4 to 12 feet apart. Thanks!

- Answer Hello Tristan. The Bose 251 speakers will handle 10-200 W per channel, 4-8 ohms, so as long as the output of the amplifier you are using is in that range, you could definitely use them as PA speakers. Thanks!

QuestionMount horizontally?Can these speakers be mounted on the wall horizontally? Do the brackets allow them to be angled slightly downward if mounted high on the wall near the ceiling if hung horizontally?

- Answer Hello there. Great questions. The brackets do allow the speakers to be angled slightly downward when mounted vertically. However, we do not recommend mounting them horizontally as that affect the sound. Thanks!

- Answer 16x2 will do it fine. If you have a super powerful amplifier, maybe go with 14x2.

QuestionCan I mount these on a 15ft ceiling pointed downward, I.e., facing the floor, and expect good performance on a covered outdoor patio?My builder pre wired patio, but put wire outlets in ceiling so I am looking for an easy clean install at the ceiling wire locations. Patio is 20-ft x 20 ft area with 15 ft ceiling, and 2 speaker pre wires points are in middle of ceiling, separated by about 12 ft.

- Answer I don't think this ones will work good for you, in this particular case. This Bose 251 are excellent, but won't look right in the ceiling. Are made to go on the wall. Maybe, try to bring the wire from the ceiling to the speakers high up, but the bracket to be mounted on the wall. Or, try other speakers ( ceiling speakers- flush mounted), if you have some space above the ceiling. Good luck..!

- Answer Yamaha R-N500BL Network Receiver is your receiver. You do not need surround sound amplifier, but stereo amplifier with 2 zones, fully controlled by a smartphone app, ipad or tablet - Yamaha app- has airplay ( play music from your phone), play any radio station in the world, local radio, control power on and off, inputs, volume etc. Hope this will help you.

- Answer The V35 is capable of expanding to multiple rooms through its Boselink connection. Either our SA2 or SA3 Lifestyle amplifier and a PMCIII expansion remote would be necessary to complete the setup.
