The 301’s would have the stronger bass response of the two models since they use an 8 inch woofer in the speaker. While the speakers are suitable for an outdoor application, keep in mind that they are not weather resistant by design. You will want to keep them away from the elements and extreme temperatures. These speakers will disperse sound over a wide range, but in an open setting, it is difficult to give you an accurate idea of exactly how far. Thanks for the questions.
