The mic is placed on the right earbud. If you let the right earbud hang freely, it rubs against your shirt and the person you're talking to will hear loud swishing noises. If you keep the right earbud in your ear, you will have to talk loudly before the person you're talking to can hear you properly.

Don’t get me ring noise canceling and sound is great. But people who are reviving the call picks all the sound around me. If Bose fixes the problem I’ll buy one. Test it your self and you will understand what I’m talking about

Please try again later.It's my understanding that there are actually two microphones on these; one inside the unit and one outside, to work together to block outside noise. I believe at least one, if not both, of the microphones are in the right side of the neckband. Wherever they are, I can tell you they work very well. When I take a phone call on mine, no one has been able to tell I'm using headphones.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The mic is located in the right earbud. Anyone that I've talk with while using has not had a problem with the sound quality. I think that it's better than the Quiet Control 20 version that had the mic in the volume control switch.
