Hello, Sarah. Thank you for your question! The QuietControl 30 wireless headphones can absolutely read out your phone's text messages. Once you have the QC30 paired with your phone, you can hold down the multi-function button on the QC30's right cable. This will enable your phone's native voice assistant, like Siri or Google Assistant. Then you can say "read my text messages." We hope this helps! Have a great day. Jesse - Bose Support
