Hello crumbs, Thanks for the question. No, you do not require the Bose Connect app to use your speaker. Simply turn on the Bluetooth on your device and hold down the Bluetooth button on the SoundLink Micro to make it ready to pair with your device. Hope this helps! Thanks again, Mohsin-Bose Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you don’t. Just turn your Bluetooth on your phone, sync it to the speaker, and you are good to go!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 2 Bose Soundlink Revolve speakers. Because I have HIPPA protected patient information on my phone I am not allowed to install any apps NOT approved by Risk managment. And I set them up just like any other Bluetooth device on my laptop. So when I want to use these Bose speakers, I go to Bluetooth and make sure they are turned on. And it works for me. After much trial and error. I have even paired my 2 speakers in what they call Party Mode, and that works also again by just using my computer and the buttons on the top of the speakers. If you set up BOTH-phone and laptop, you will have issues. I deleted the app totally off a phone I was borrowing to see how it worked. Now I only use my laptop.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You can do everything without the app EXCEPT firmware updates. In fact I found it was much easier to manually connect two of these to an Echo Spot in stereo mode than using the app.
