Mine works with a plastic case.

Yes. I have a totalee case and wife has some other plastic one. Magnet slips between care and phone. Works fine

Yes but you must place a small metal plate ( included ) in the case under the phone. This may cause the phone screen to be pushed above the lip of the case protecting the screen. It depends on the case.

I have an otter box case on my iPhone 7 and the plate is on the back on my case. 3 plates come with this product. Good luck

Yes, I have an otterbox commuter for my iphone7 and places the magnet between the rubber and the hard case. You can also attach it to the case itself.
