How does this attach to the GPS or cell phone? null

It attaches to the dash or glass with a suction cup, which holds about 80% of the time to the dash. It attaches to your phone with a nice adhesive magnet, which I attached to the outside of my phone case. The magnet portion works very well.

It comes with a slim metal piece with adhesive on one side, which you remove the adhesive cover and then stick to the back of your phone or a phone case. But if you use any of the Otter Box cases, then you can just as easily leave the adhesive cover on the slim metal piece and place it between the two case pieces and it will still hold very well to the mount. I have an iPhone6s that it works very well, but larger phones such as 6S Plus or 7 Plus are heavier so placing the metal magnet between the two case pieces could lessen its ability to hold on to the mount

The holder is magnetic. You attach the metal plate that comes in the package to the back of the phone. You put the case back on. Then you put the phone up to the holder and the magnet grabs it.

The mount is a magnet. You attach a metal strip to your device using the included double sided tape. I use it for an IPhone and an IPad. Works great!!
