You just insert the refill in the base of the charger/cleaning system, insert the shaver into the top recess, and activate the cleaning cycle. Cleaning fluid in the refill cartridge is pumped though the system and washes out the shaver of hair. It works well and leaves the shaver nice and clean like new.
