“I have purchased Breville smart oven air fryer model BOV86OBSS1B. The heating elements are not protected. Am I suppose to let stuff like oil, crumbs, flour drip on heating elements?”

No place the baking tray on the rack in the lowest position. I put aluminum foil on the baking tray.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When cooking fatty food (e.g. chicken wings) we recommend using the grilling rack (placed in the roasting pan) instead of the air fry basket to prevent the oil dripping. Discard excess oil in between the batches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The answer to this problem is to clean the elements , the oven chamber is so large it is eazy to access and clean it . I also cover the lower tray with aluminum foil. My family love the oven .
