Yes, The Breville BOV900 Smart Oven fits nicely on our countertop with 4" of space between the top of the oven and the upper cabinets. DO NOT place anything on top of or a couple inches to either side during use because the outside of the oven does get hot to the touch. The air space is needed for proper ventilation and cooling. We like our Breville oven as a convenient companion to our regular oven. We use ours all the time.

Breville Ovens can certainly be placed on open countertops with standard-height cabinetry above them (they are "countertop ovens, of course). You need 4 inches of clearance around the sides. Someone earlier said you need 4 inches above it, but my specs and research suggest you need 6 inches of space above the appliance--not just 4 inches. I'll be placing my oven in a closed hutch. It'll only be used with the hutch doors open and recessed. There is a shallow shelf above it, so we'll ensure the shelf is set at 6 inches or higher above the top of the appliance so it has proper airflow and can be safely used.
