- Answer look at the product boxes when you go shopping. it'll tell you what's recommended or what printer the drum is for. seriously. i googled and this came up for your brother MFC 2685DW PRINTER FOR DRUM: DR 630. I even double checked at amazon and it shows for your printer as well. good luck.

- Answer The "DRUM" holds excess spent toner so it fills up and needs to be replaced. What doesn't make sense is why Best Buy doesn't sell just the drum (without toner) as it is much less expensive that way.
