- Answer Yes, you can change the settings to greyscale and print only using the black cartridge if/when one of the color cartridges is/are depleted.

- Answer I want to say yes. I mean, it does have a fax option, so I do believe so. I have just never sent a fax, so I couldn't give you too much detail, but it does scan, copy and fax. I think you can even set it up to fax online without needing a landline.
