A:AnswerIf you referring to MFC-J4335 and MFC-J4535 printers, the 3 main differences are the MFC-J4535 has a 2.7 touchscreen, it’s a double tray (it’s bigger, which holds up to 400 sheets vs 150) and has the NFC (near field communication) which simplifies printing directly from a mobile device without the need of the app.
A:AnswerI am now answering my own question. I took a chance and have now printed #65 cardstock at least 5 times...with no problems at all. However, the brother website gives a chart specifying paper types to use in this machine at https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/174641. The chart shows the max at abt 58 lb.

A:AnswerYour Brother MFCJ4535DW machine will perform maintenance purges of the print head at regular intervals. The cleaning is to ensure consistent print quality and prevent damage to the print head. These purges remove any air or debris that may have gotten into the print head manifold. Your machine will use the minimum amount of ink necessary to perform this operation. The cleaning time is built into the machine's firmware and is not user adjustable.
The Brother ink cartridges have a shelf life of three-years from the date of production. To ensure optimum print quality, Brother highly recommends that you use the ink cartridges prior to the use before date printed on the packaging. Ink cartridges that are opened on, or just before, the use before date should be used and replaced within six months after they are installed. If the print quality becomes poor, we recommend that you replace the ink cartridge with a new ink cartridge.
A:AnswerIf one color is missing in your Brother MFCJ4535DW machine, it will enter into B&W Print Only Mode. The "B&W Print Only" message means that one or more of your color ink cartridges have reached the end of its life.
While "B&W Print Only" appears on the screen, you can continue to use your machine in the following ways:
1. You can always scan to PC or media even if your machine displays "Replace Ink."
2. Based on your printing volume and page coverage, you can print up to four (4) weeks in B&W mode.
3. You'll be able to receive and print B&W faxes. If you're sent a color fax, the machine will convert the face and print it in black and white.
4. You won't be able to print on photo paper or other special media during B&W mode. Only plain paper can be used.
5. Place the machine in Grayscale mode via the print driver to ensure you can continue to print documents.
Your printer is designed to stop ALL printing operations when any of the ink cartridges are have reached their end-of-life. This is to ensure the life of the printhead and to maintain premium print quality. Some ink from all the ink cartridges is used in periodic cleaning cycles. This helps to prevent issues such as printhead clogs and poor print quality. There is no way to bypass this feature.
If one or more color ink cartridges are low but not at the end of their usable life and you want to minimize the use of color ink, change the settings in the Brother software to print with black ink only (grayscale). If you print with black ink only, the other ink cartridges must have ink for the printer to print. When an ink cartridge is depleted, you must replace it before you can print.
If you print with black ink only, the printer may still use small amounts of ink from all the ink cartridges for occasional servicing tasks. Brother recommends that you replace any low ink cartridges to avoid any interruptions in printing.
A:AnswerCan't answer specifically about this printer but our previous Brother wasn't. I used it in my business for 2 years and then for 8+ years at home. It was going strong until the movers destroyed it.
