• I send my cartridge back to the manufacturer after I used it. Even if tells you that you need to change it, you can just prolong the use by shaking the cartridge.

• Brother has a recycle program that enables you to send back the empty cartridge for free. Check out their site.

• You can send them back no charge and they recycle it

• You can recycle at Office Depot and I'm sure other places for credit towards future purchases.
