Ours will only pulse during the brew cycle. Have you connected your coffee pot to your wifi? It may be pulsing as an indicator the smarthome connection is missing? Just a thought.

When you follow the instructions to set up the clock settings, make your selections for Strength and Temperature, and set up an Auto Brew, the outer ring of the Brew/Select knob will illuminate to confirm each selection when pushed.
