All the manual says is that, “the grind size of the coffee is for brewing using the drip coffee method.” To me that reads as, this is not an espresso maker(!) We use a medium grind from the store. My understanding is that most auto drips are designed to deal well with a medium rather than a coarser grind. However, because you can play around with the settings/brew strength, you should also be able to see how you can get your preferred brew if you so choose. We used the provided scoop and their suggested one scoop per cup. Their scoop was noticeably bigger than our old coffee scoop. The resulting coffee was good but too strong. If the grind had been coarser it might’ve been ok. We just went back to using our old scoop and now it’s peeerfect. Hope that helps!

We recommend using a medium-grind coffee, when possible, as a finer grind is more likely to lead to an overflow of coffee grounds. We hope this helps!
