- Answer Hello - we checked the information for this unit, and we recommend using one of our icemaker cleaning solutions that can also be used as a descaler in our expresso machines. The part number for this cleaning solution is #WX08X42870, and you can learn more about this by looking up the part on our GE Appliances website. -- As an alternative, a 1:1 ratio of water and white vinegar can also be used as a cleaning solution for the descaling process. -- We hope this response was insightful, and please reach out to us on social media if any other questions or concerns come up. QuestionDoes the machine has a bypass for the grinder so that I can use decaf once in a while?

- Answer You woukd just take out your beans,and replace with decaf, it's on the top of machine and easy to access.However,you might want to run a ristretro( my cup) shot to clear out the regular coffee.

QuestionWhere is the water heated? Is it in the plastic reservoir? I'm trying to understand all the materials used to heat the water, and if the water comes into contact with plastic, when heated. Thank you!

Plastic does come in contact with the coffee during the brewing process and the plastic is BPA free. All wetted parts are BPA free. We hope you find this information helpful. - Answer Technically No. But you adjust the “Espresso” and/or “Americano” settings to your liking in some limited ways like Grind time, water Volume and Temperature.

- Answer We do not provide the ingredients for our descale powder and our product team is currently working on a replacement for WC01X20619. In the meantime, we have cleaning solutions for icemakers that can also be used as a descaler in our expresso machines. You can use part numbers WX08X42870 or P4INKCLEAN, which can be purchased by giving our parts team a call at 1-877-959-8688 M-F 9AM-7PM EST or by visiting the GE Appliances Parts website. Alternatively, a 1:1 ratio of water and white vinegar can be used as a cleaning solution for the descaling process.

QuestionI just got this for Xmas. I find that I have to fill out the beans area for every cup. I only get like 4 cups from one bag, is that normal? Also, the waste area gets filled up very fast. Us this “ waste” technically coffee that I can use?

- Answer Hello - The amount of coffee used is dictated by the grind size and grind time and not by the brew type (Espresso, Lungo, etc.). Grind Size is changed with the knob. There is a setting of 1 -5. The higher the number the more coffee grounds. Grind Time can only be adjusted in the app. It can be changed from 4 seconds to 5.5 seconds. The longer the time, the more coffee grounds. The default setting is a grind time of 4.5 seconds and the amount of coffee grounds will vary based on grind setting from approx. 7 grams (setting 1) to as much as 12 grams (setting 5). We don't recommend using the waste as coffee. We're confident this machine will be a great addition to your home for many years. All the best! -Don@Café

QuestionMy machine is grinding the beans, disposing the grounds in the waste tray, behind the waste basket and doesn’t produce espresso. It beeps 2-3 seconds after it’s done grinding. When i open the brew machine, espresso beans are overflowing and all over.

- Answer Yes, absolutely. There is a button called “My Cup” which you can set to a recipe of your choosing using the app. One of the recipes you can choose is lungo. I tried it this morning and this might be my new favorite espresso drink. Additionally, there are adjustments to the grind time and amount of water, and water temperature, so you can dial in how you want your lungo (or other shots) to be brewed.

- Answer I don’t think so. This is a GE brand, and Smeg is not. It’s possible that they source some of the parts from the same manufacturer, but otherwise I think the similar look is just a coincidence.

- Answer It has to be whole beans. This machine has a built-in grinder, and it’s designed to grind them immediately before brewing to give you the freshest flavor.

- Answer It is 16” deep, 12.5” tall, and 7.1” wide. The cord sticks out the back so you can’t push it tight against the wall. You also will need to regularly access the water resovoir and bean hopper which are on top, and the drip tray and waste container which slide out the front.

QuestionWhile I was able to connect to the app with no problem, it isn’t letting me make any changes to the grind, amount and temperature. On my iPad, it will let me change oz and temp but when I hit set, the app just crashes. Is there a way to fix this

QuestionI really like the coffee it makes. The puck measures about 15 grams when it comes out but it’s definitely less coffee than that since it’s still wet. I grind it for the max 5.5 seconds. What is the actual amount grinded at the maximum time ?

- Answer Hi there, thanks for asking! Coffee ground amounts and espresso volumes may vary depending on bean type and machine settings. When aligning the grinder circle to the arrow on the grinder top, the smallest circle is the smallest grind size and the largest circle is the largest grind size. The smaller the grind, the stronger the coffee. This may change if the grind settings are changed in the app. We're glad to hear that you're getting lots of use out of your espresso machine!
