Unfortunately when you get to the membership part when setting the system up it will not let you continue with the set up unless you click on the 30 day free trial and then you have to choose what membership you want after the 30 day trial (monthly 9.99 or annual 99.99) so it basically forces you to get a membership

You will have full access to your 24hr video log for 30 days post registration. Upon the completion of the 30 day trial be advised, your recordings will only be saved for 24hrs. So the videos you want to store, I advise using your phones screen recorder to save and store your videos. With the membership, your videos are stored in the canary cloud and may be retrieved at any time during your annal membership plan.
