XL merely refers to ink volume in the cartridge. If the cartridge number matches with what’s recommended, XL merely gives a more printing pages than a regular cartridge.

Yes you can the Xl is better for if you want to print pictures on glossy photo paper but you can use it to print regularly copies

I DONT KNOW IF YOU CAN BUT I ALWAYS USE XL IN MY MP250 PRINTER AND IT WORKS JUST FINE
