This is dust cover. When you print using legal sized paper, the tray must be extended via a blue button labeled LGL just inside the tray. This will cause the paper tray to stick out. So after extending the tray and loading legal stock, you then can install the dust cover before sliding the tray back in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.FINALLY! Thank you to all. Pull the bottom paper tray out (as if you wanted to load paper) Push the blue LGL button, and the tray expands (longer) to accommodate legal paper. If you REINSTALL the paper tray you will see that id not longer fits flush with the front of the printer. Remove tray again, and THIS PIECE fits on top of the tray. The two "pins" on the underside of the piece fit into the two square holes in the paper tray!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is for when you install legal paper in tray.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I found the answer online. The front of the paper tray extends for legal paper by depressing the blue lever insinde. Then this piece will cover the end of the tray that sticks out in this configuration. Pretty neat, I think.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe it is a guide for the paper feed on the front bottom of the printer (above the normal paper tray). I had the same problem and my wife figured it out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The long light-colored plastic piece is a paper tray cover extension. If you load 14-inch long paper, aka "Legal Size", then use this cover on the paper tray to reduce jamming problems. Step 1 would be to make the paper tray longer (pull out tray, stretch tray length to the Legal size notch), which exposes a few inches of tray beyond the letter-sized cover shell. Step 2 would be to snap this cover extension onto the tray, and Step 3 is to load the 8 .5 x 14 paper into the tray and slide the tray into the printer. When you want to use Letter-size paper, remove the legal size paper, remove the extension cover, and shorten the tray to letter size, load the letter size paper and insert the tray into the printer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the same machine and can't figure it out either.
