Yes, automatic duplex printing and single-pass two-sided scanning if you can feed it through the document feeder.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it does duplex scanning (scans both sides in one pass.) it will print on both sides but it’s a double pass within the printer. (Prints one side then pulls the paper back and prints the other side.). It’s much quicker than inkjet duplex printing.

We have it installed as an hardwired NETWORK printer (ethernet cable connected to our router and then to each PC in a windows 10 Pro environment in our home). It installed easily on each Windows PC. We run Excel, Word, Outlook and QuickBooks, and it prints fast; I particularly noticed the wake time from it's low power state is quick. Once your drivers are installed, all of our programs are a snap to change to duplex printing. Don't overlook the ability to turn on grayscale printing when color isn't needed so your color cartridges last longer. We also have IPhones (with current IOS), and sending a print job to the printer is just like being connected. This sucker is fast - when I hit print it is about done by the time I walk 20 feet to the printer! I chose this printer in particular because it supports NETWORK scanning and I have had good luck with other Canon multi-function in this regard. I don't use the included driver disk because our laptops don't have DVD readers, so I go to the Canon site and download them there. BE SURE to get both the printer driver and the separate UI Scanner driver. Once installed, I drag the UI Scanner icon from the Windows start menu and place it in the bottom of my Windows Toolbar. Scans then are very easy and the pop-up scanner tool allows complete control over how you want to scan. Just to nit-pick, the only thing not intuitive was the Canon website descriptions for the scanner software could have been clearer. You may not have that issue at all if this printer/scanner is just connected to one PC through a USB connection. Just a suggestion - if you scan a lot, get Adobe subscription. Your scans are going to be large - particularly color scans, and Adobe does a great job in allowing you to optimize the file size to a fraction of the original. Good luck.
