USA Canon sales rep told me that the 8620a came out 2 months ago and has different chips in them than before. This is in response to the chip shortage.they had to do this in order to be able to provide printers during the chip shortage. Also ha clearer AirPrint capabilities.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t think there are any differences, but there might be some sort of firmware difference. I used the BestBuy compare tool, and really couldn’t see any difference. I have the 8620a and am very pleased with it. The ADF works great for scanning and copying. Haven’t used the rear paper feed yet, but I don’t have any problems with crooked scans, and the printer for B&W and color is super fast and clean, even with 2-sided documents. My wife uses it and likes the simple touch screen commands. Very easy to use with WiFi and Mac computer, iPad, and iPhone (using the Canon app with the latter two). Setup was very easy for everything but faxing, which I don’t plan on using much anyway. It would have been easy to set up faxing if I had a separate line. I still got it to work on the same landline, but I will have to adjust it each time to send/receive a fax. No big deal.
