Yes, of course the camera comes with a warranty if you register it with Canon (note I received: your product was eligible for the 13 months of free* accidental damage protection). If you are not careful with your equipment or use it outdoors a lot, then I would agree that a Geek Squad Protection Plan would be worth the extra cost. You'd have to check with Best Buy as to the what the then-current terms are on coverage and fix vs replacement policy. Typically, they won't cover obvious abuse or negligence.
