I have found these batteries to last a good long time. I can go out nature walking for the better part of the day, and come home with hundreds of shots from macros to landscapes to 30x zoom and still have battery left. Of course, videos and lots of zooming can wear a battery down faster than standard shots. I think this would be an awesome unit to take on vacation, but I would never leave home without an extra battery & SD card!! Not even when I go for a nature walk :)

I bought a back-up battery for this camera for my vacation and was relieved I had. I definitely needed it :-) By the end of the day I had to recharge both of them. But otherwise, the camera is awesome!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I shot about 700 images w/o flash in a low light situation before the bat was gone. Batterys are cheap compared to missing a shot. Get some extras.

I shoot pictures every single day, just a hobbyist. I did purchase a second battery, especially for the reason you mentioned, vacation. I would find it really frustrating if camera died.

I purchased a compatible battery and always carried a back up. I only had to change the battery one day. I did charge the battery every night. This was with constant use throughout the day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've never actually measured but it seems like it's good for a couple hundred shots, fewer if they're indoors or if you take a lot of video. I can usually make it through special occasions (weddings, children's programs, etc) but I always carry a spare. I take too many pictures and videos though. You only need to but the battery. It comes with a charger
