- Answer The StarSense Explorer 102mm Refractor Telescope has a Limiting Stellar Magnitude of +12.5. Saturn's largest moon, Titan, has a magnitude of about +8.2, which is well within the range of being visible in this telescope.

QuestionI will be using this for lake and mountain nature viewing from a balcony. Does it come with an Erect image diagonal ( so the images aren’t upside down) ids this a good choice?

- Answer The StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ telescope is a very good choice, as it comes with an Erect image 90° (1.25") diagonal. Terrestrial objects will be viewed in their correct orientation.

- Answer The StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ telescope is capable of viewing the inner and outer planets. The brighter planets such as Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn can be viewed easily. Caution should be taken while attempting to locate Mercury, as it nearest to the Sun. Observe Mercury only when it is at greatest elongation and above the horizon prior to sunrise or after sunset The outer planets, Uranus and Neptune appear as very tiny greenish/bluish discs and may be mistaken for background stars.

- Answer Once the smartphone is docked it will take images of the night sky for its alignment routine. I will not capture celestial images of objects to admire or share. You can hold up a second camera lens directly up to the eyepiece to snap images of bright objects such as the moon or planets.

- Answer The DX102AZ refractor is very robust at maintaing collimation while traveling and is a food choice for a telescope to be moved to dark sites The Celestron 40-inch telescope carrying case id great to transport it by car, but I would be reluctant to let airline baggage handle it. https://www.celestron.com/products/40in-telescope-soft-case

Questionsince I know nothing about telescope I like to ask if I don't have a smart phone can i hook up my computer to it instead or do I need to have a smart phone?

- Answer Most importantly, you should NOT buy this scope if you don't have a smart phone. For about $100 less, you can buy the same Celestron scope without the StarSense feature (but I don't know if Best Buy sells it). This telescope cannot be connected to a computer. In fact, you don't even "connect" it to a smart phone. The StarSense system consists of a smart phone mount and an app. The mount attaches the phone alongside the telescope; the app tells you where to manually turn the telescope so you can see a specific star or planet. There is really no interaction or control between the phone and the scope.

QuestionIs the Starsense 102mm refractor telescope an apochromatic telescope as it relates to chromatic aberration? If so, is it a doublet or a triplet?

- Answer This refractor is achromatic, NOT apochromatic. You'd have to pay more than twice this scope's price for one with apochromatic lenses. In practical terms, the lenses on this scope make it very difficult to distinguish any colors on Jupiter or Saturn.
